History

Dolor's Kakanin was established in the 1930's by Dolores M. Santos in Escanilla St. Concepcion, Malabon to help sustain her family's everyday needs. Through word of mouth she increased her production and quickly runs out of products on a daily basis.  It quickly spread like wild fire that her neighbors as well as people from other barangays started to place order most specially when telephone was already available.

Her classic recipes were bibingka galapong, kutsinta, maja blanca, biko- pinipig, malagkit, monggo and bibingkang tinipay. It was sold in the cockpit area in Laloma, Quezon City and in Malabon Central Market.

Personalities such as Doña Purita Ponce- Enrile, Engracia Reyes of Aristocrat, Don Tobias Marcelo and Doña Concepcion Paez- Cruz were some of the customers who bought bulk orders of kakanins as Christmas presents to family and friends. Restaurans and hotels started to purchase kakanins for their Filipiñiana desserts. These were Triple V, Kamayan Restaurant, Manila Hotel, Westin Philippine Plaza, Intercon Hotel, Holiday Inn Manila, Sulo Hotel and Red Ribbon.

As we were growing we expanded in shopping malls like, Ayala Marikina, Ayala Cloverleaf, SM North Edsa, SM Megamall, SM Center Pasig, Unimart Greenhills, Cash and Carry Makati but due to the Covid-19 pandemic we are currently limited to two branches.
